Volkswagen, Europe's largest carmaker, could create 50,000 jobs worldwide over the medium term, of which 5,000-6,000 in Germany until 2015.
"Currently we have 400,000 employees worldwide. Given the increases in many markets, we can get to 450,000 employees over the medium term. In addition, you will need to replace 60,000 employees over the next five years," said Horst Neumann , Volkswagen's personnel chief for the newspaper Handelsblatt said on Monday.
Car manufacturer will create between 5,000 and 6,000 jobs in Germany until 2015 and intends to reduce the number of temporary workers, he said.
Volkswagen is negotiating salary with a strong German union, IG Metall, which supports the wage claims renounced last year because of economic crisis.
This year, however, German carmakers, Daimler, BMW and VW, which benefited from global economic recovery.
