Volvo Air Motion - a vehicle carved, ultra-light - the first time in Los Angeles

Air Motion Volvo concept vehicle is a 100% organic, ultra-light, with stunning performance, the Volvo imagined and presented in premiere at the Auto Show in Los Angeles to attend the Design Challenge Competition.

With less than 500 kg, Volvo Air Motion concept is the dream of driving a vehicle easier than a Formula 1 car with stunning performance and not a drop of gasoline consumed or to become reality. Designed as a clam shell and sculpted carbon fiber.

Minimizing weight and complexity, but maximizing driving pleasure, is the philosophy behind this vehicle. Volvo Air Motion has thousands of components less than a traditional vehicle thanks to a simple compressed air engine that replaces the internal combustion engine. Compressed air, stored in the tank in front of the vehicle, is produced in special centers (Air Replenishment Sites). Air powered turbines located at 500 m above ground, they use wind power and transforms it into electricity needed compression.

The Volvo Air Motion, built at a scale of 1 / 4 is presented first in the Los Angeles Auto Show, open to the public between 19 and 28 November 2010.
