Volvo Car Corporation has announced it is planning for aggressive product plan to recruit up to 1,200 people in the next 12 months, mainly for research and development in electrification of vehicles.

Volvo Car Corporation has announced it is planning for aggressive product plan to recruit up to 1,200 people in the next 12 months, mainly for research and development in electrification of vehicles.

"We need to expand our operations to enable the development of competitive products and efficient fuel consumption and the technologies that are part of our growth," said Stefan Jacoby, president and CEO of Volvo.

Most new recruits would be engineers for R & D departments, where the company needs to include expertise in electrification. Electrification of advanced technology vehicles as part of the consumption efficiency is one area where Volvo has invested so much. People are needed in other areas such as procurement, IT and Marketing.

In addition, Volvo will employ people and to plant, where capacity expansion is needed due to the increase volume production planned for 2011 and beyond.

Year 2010 was one of the global auto industry's recovery and Volvo has reinforced its position on several markets, increasing market share, mainly due to the success of the Volvo XC60 and the range of effective models. After the successful launch of the new S60 and V60, the next step is to put the car market of Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid.
