Volvo launches GTDi 1.6 150 engines and 180 hp

Volvo engine range has been extended with T3 and T4 units, two petrol engines, four cylinder, 1.6 liter GTDi 150 and 180 horsepower, designed to provide the best performance at minimum power. The new engines will be found in the S60 and V60 range.

1.6 GTDi new engines (Gasoline Direct Injection turbocharged) Q3 110 kW/150 hp to 132 kW/180 hp and T4 will be available on the recently launched Volvo S60 and V60 models. 180 hp engine offers maximum torque of 240 Nm at just 1600 rpm to 5000 rpm. Moreover, the overboost function gives a maximum torque of 270 Nm. 150 hp version develops 240 Nm of torque.

"Small and ultraperformantele GTDi engines are part of our strategy to extract more power from low engine capacity," said Magnus Jonsson, vice president of Volvo Cars.

New petrol units are constructed of aluminum, a technology integrated with the latest generation high precision direct injection in combination with turbocharger and twin system VVT (variable valve timing) were also possible dynamic performance specific to engine capacity high, and at the same time, obtained with a low fuel consumption.

1.6 GTDi T4 is available in combination with a six-speed automatic transmission with a manual or Powershift, all six steps. Unity 1.6 will be available Q3 GTDi only a manual gearbox with six gears.
