Walter de Silva confirmed the new "baby" Cayenne, Porsche Cajun

Volkswagen Group's Design Director, Walter de Silva said in an interview that he hopes to bring "something positive" to design new Porsche models, starting with the so-called "baby" Cayenne, Porsche Cajun. The model will hit the market in 2014.

Porsche AG will soon become the 10th-century brand of Volkswagen AG and Porsche Design Director, Michael Mauer is subordinated by De Silva, along with heads of other VW group style centers such as Skoda, Seat, Bentley and Lamborghini.

De Silva said he has only just begun to work with Mauer and their relationship is a good start. "I sincerely hope I can bring something positive into new Porsche design, which at the same time to preserve tradition," De Silva said in an interview at the Auto Salon in Paris, says Automotive News Europe.

De Silva said that the design of the Boxster and 911 successors are ready, so the "Cajun Porsche will be the first new model created under my influence."

Porsche Cajun, scheduled for launch in 2014, is part of Porsche's plan to expand its range of models with a fourth vehicle and aimed to double sales in the medium term at 150,000 units.

The new compact SUV Audi Q5 will use the platform and will be a rival for premium models like BMW X3, Range Rover Evoque. According to German journalists in AutoBild, Cajun Porsche will have two doors, a shorter wheelbase than the Q5 and will cost 5-10% more than Audi's brother.

In addition to Cajun, Porsche is working on a "baby" Boxster, expected in 2013. It will be based on Volkswagen BlueSport concept presented in Detroit in 2009.
